Case Study: St Heliers Bay Road

A list of the individual services JL Rose provides is given on the Services page. But here’s an example of the way they can bring everything together on a single project.

The owners of this property wanted a major overhaul. The existing section had old timber fences, hedging and a tiled area around a swimming pool.

With a bobcat excavator, we ripped out the fencing, the lawn, the tiles, the hedging, the gardens, the pool coping and we cleaned the earth. The pool was the only original feature to survive.

With everything stripped, we renewed the pool’s plumbing - with the help of some specialists - and replaced the in-pool lighting. The section’s drainage needed work too, so we put in stainless steel channel drains and scoria. Then we built a retaining wall to level the lawn to the height of the pool. New concrete was poured onto which the tiles would go.

Concrete block walls were used for garden planters and Macrocarpa railway sleepers were placed around garden edges. Fencing was a combination of Pine tongue and groove along with stainless steel ripple board.

New tiles were laid around the pool and also on the home’s stairs and landing. Timber decking was added. We arranged for LouvreTec to put louvers into the pool room as well as for electricians, plumbers and plasterers to add their expertise.

An instant lawn was laid, we added a gate to the entrance and garden lighting was installed. A fresh coat of paint was applied wherever it was needed.

The tiles were acid washed and sealed at completion. Then the property was cleared of all waste, the neighbours thanked us for entertaining their cat, and we left the happy owners to enjoy the outdoors.
